Call a Hotline TodayStart your journey toward freedom from abuse and its effects.National Hotline - 1-800-799-SAFE(7233)When you call the National Hotline, they will provide you with information on a local agency that can help you. They refer to domestic violence agencies, shelters, social services, and legal help. They ask for your city and state, then ask several voluntary questions. You may choose to remain completely anonymous. These questions include your first name, age, your ethnic background, whether there are children in the home, and whether the police have been involved in your family's situation. If you reveal child abuse during the call, they are required to report it to the national child abuse hotline. These counselors can help you identify problems and possible solutions. They can help you make a safety plan. The counselors who answer come from a variety of backgrounds, including domestic violence counselors and shelter workers. In addition, they attend a rigorous training course before they are allowed to answer the hotline.
