Why He or She Stays
Lots of reasons and they're all good ones.
First and foremost, it's home. The known is always easier
than the unknown.
When a store or habitation (residence) is robbed, who
has to leave? The store owner, clerk, or resident? No!
It's the perpetrator who leaves!
If you or your children have been victimized in your
own home though, it's all different. The abuser has
the same rights that you do to your home and in way
too many cases, it's the victims who must pack up and
leave everything they know. Leave behind their friends,
school or college, employment, family, support system,
inheritance- whatever they may have had.
So why does a victim of abuse or assault have to leave
their home? Make the perpetrator leave!
Well, our system isn't set up to protect the rights
of victims in domestic violence. It doesn't matter if
the victim has a clear deed to the property they reside
on even - at least in Texas!
