Our History

Founded in 1998 by the City of San Saba, The Dove Project was created to support and empower victims of domestic violence. As one of the first city governments to take this step, San Saba established critical services including emergency shelter, crisis counseling, and legal assistance, offering hope and safety to those in need. Today, The Dove Project continues this mission, helping individuals and families rebuild their lives free from violence.

Our Mission & Values

At The Dove Project, our mission is to support and empower survivors of domestic violence by providing personalized assistance, advocacy, and access to essential resources. We strive to create pathways toward safety, healing, and long-term independence, ensuring that every survivor feels heard, respected, and valued.

We believe every survivor deserves safety, respect, and a path forward—without barriers. That’s why we offer all our services free of charge and keep every interaction confidential.

Our Logo

A simple line drawing of a hummingbird holding a red heart in its beak.

Our logo unites the image of a dove and a heart to express both hope and compassion at the core of our mission. The dove, a universal symbol of peace and freedom, reflects the strength and courage it takes for survivors to seek safety and healing. Its open wings suggest protection and the promise of a new beginning beyond violence.

The heart being held by the dove, represents empathy, care, and the deep commitment our team brings to every survivor’s journey. Together, they embody a message of resilience: that healing happens when kindness and understanding guide the way, and that no one has to face these hardships alone.
